A curriculum, in general, is a document that identifies the determining values in learning and teaching based on a narrower or wider consensus, defines the compulsory objectives and requirements, together with the cultural domains and their schemes. (Kotschy B. 1998)

In Hungarian educational policy, the National Core Curriculum (NCC) is the highest level regulatory document concerning the content of curricula.

Framework Curricula act as regulators among the National Core Curriculum and the local curricula of schools. The Ministry of Education published a central Framework Curriculum, but schools may grant accreditation to alternative framework curricula as well. A Local Curriculum is a document regulating the school’s educational process.

A syllabus is the chronological arrangement of requirements for each class, usually for one school-year.
